Lona Human is a multidisciplinary artist whose work celebrates curiosity, creativity, and the magic that unfolds when art and imagination converge. Born in Namibia, she spent her childhood in Windhoek, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth before settling in Cape Town, South Africa, 33 years ago. With a background in science and education, she later transitioned into design within the manufacturing industry, supplying major chain stores. Throughout her journey, art has remained a constant, evolving through studies with artists such as Michael Olivari, Emelia Cillié-Gilson, Elize Bezuidenhout and world renowned graphite artist Pieter van der Merwe.
Working across a variety of mediums, including water-mixable oils, acrylics, inks, pencils and pastels, she creates intricate, detailed compositions. Her work often features richly textured backgrounds and explores subjects ranging from portraits to florals and landscapes. An avid illustrator, she participates in Inktober annually, using the challenge to further refine her expressive line work and narrative depth.
